Wishbone sprits

Here are the laminated spars for the wishbone sprit.

  1. This is for your CoreSound 20, right? I will be interesting in hearing about your experience with these. I know that technically an average sailor (though I know you are an expert) could not ID a performance deficit in a boom that "cuts" the sail, but I am a little offended by the idea :-) Will you be "netting" in the bottom so that the sail gathers into the net when dropped? I saw this done on an elegant sharpie in a Wooden Boat Magazine essay a year or two ago, and it seemed like a good idea, but perhaps best for larger sails.

  2. Yeah, I'm with you. I've never liked the look of that nasty crease normal sprits put in the sail. If nothing else, this should look nicer. For now I'm not adding any netting to catch the reefed sail. The sails just aren't that big so it probably won't be necessary. I can always add them later if needed.
